Chiropractic aims to maintain the proper functioning of the body’s master system: the nervous system.\u00a0<\/strong>Why?<\/strong>\u00a0For a simple and logical reason. The training of chiropractors is done at university level, equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Spain.
\nA chiropractic degree lasts for\u00a0five to seven academic years\u00a0(the number of academic years varies depending on the country), which is equivalent to about 5,500 teaching hours.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
On finishing the degree, the title of\u00a0Doctor of Chiropractic<\/strong> is obtained, as many of these healthcare professionals call themselves, or that of\u00a0Bachelor of Chiropractic<\/strong>\u00a0(if studying at a European university).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The chiropractic profession began in 1895 in Davenport (Iowa, USA). It was Daniel David Palmer who successfully performed the first treatment, adjusting a displaced vertebra for Harvey Lillard, a deaf patient. The patient immediately recovered his hearing.
\nThe good result of this first adjustment triggered a string of research in the United States that led to the birth of Chiropractic.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Since then,\u00a0Chiropractic\u00a0has developed in parallel to allopathic medicine,\u00a0to its current position of being the world’s third primary care healthcare profession (after Medicine and Dentistry)\u00a0in order of importance and the number of patients. The significant growth detected in the United States (where it is the second healthcare profession) and Canada, and later in other countries in Europe and around the world,\u00a0was based on good clinical and scientific results, as well as patient support.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Some countries already include it in their public health system. In others, such as Spain, work is being done for its regularisation. The first chiropractor to come to Europe settled in Brussels in 1923. Today, Chiropractic is taught and practised throughout the world. Today there are about\u00a070,000 Chiropractic doctors\u00a0spread over five continents.
